I have a tacoma with the 3.4.It's not that great on mpg.If I just had to do it I would use a 4.3 Chevy. The ls fuel injected eng with overdrive trans would probably get better mpg than my 3.4.A Corvette isn't exactly an economy car.Get yourself an opel gt and put the 4.3 in it.
In C4 , if they dont have a pic of their vette in their profile ...somewhere, the consensus is that the car probably doesnt exist, unless the thread is asking about a future purchase, and even then they want to see pictures. I give folks the benefit of the doubt but I see your point
For the doubters a 4.3 is the cheapest and easiest bolt in engine. No one can disput that.
I also mentioned an overdrive transmission to make 30 mpg possible!!! I currently get 22-26 mpg with a 350.
An LS is a great engine I own many but as you all should know its not an easy swap and it's not cheap!!!
The best part of a 4.3 is the torque. No other v6 comes close to the low rpm grunt of that little Chevy!
If you're wanting to go the Toyota engine route, look at Toyota's 5.7, Atleast you'll still be with a V8. With that said, I like unusual things, so I would be very interested in a toyota 3.4. I also think a cool swap would be a duramax if it could be packaged in a C3.

Thanks hugie this has been an up hill battle, I do understand everyone's complaints... But at least 1 person understands the idea.

Anytime you start altering a classic vehicle of any sort you're going to get this sort of response. I have been involved with Mopars, Fords and Chevys over the years and this just isn't something that flies in general. It is very much looked at as a huge downgrade of a classic vehicle. It would be somewhat safe to say that almost 100% of the time it just won't be received well at all. There are exceptions to that as you have seen in a few posts.
You did ask for opinions on this and received them. If you really want to do it, it's your car - go for it. I will tell you with all certainty, that you will have an almost impossible time ever selling this car, so make sure it's what you want and that you're going to keep it. As long as you're OK with that - have some fun and dig in!

I guess it is a good thing I do have a pic and details in my profile
I'm sure all you rich guys that can wipe your butt with hundred dollar bills can afford these porches and new vettes, but us lil guys that actually work for a living and have wanted a corvette and just happened to be in the right place at the right time to get a deal; doing what they can with what they got.... i came here for help, ideals and research. I don't think I could get a prius for 1200
The only thing I know about wipin' butts with money is from an experience I had years ago, when I was a long haul trucker. My partner and I were driving through the Southwest on a long, lonely stretch of road somewhere in the vicinity of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nothing, and I mean nothing, for at least a hundred miles either way. All of a sudden, my partner says he needs to take a crap, now! So, I pull off to the side of the road, so my partner can do his business off in the sagebrush. "Uh, oh! No toilet paper!" he says. So, I say, "Just use a Dollar." He runs off, and comes back a little while later, with his hands covered with crap. I said " Didn't I tell you to use a Dollar?". He says "Have you ever tried to wipe your butt with 3 quarters, 2 dimes, and a nickel?"

My response is solely based on the fact that I've never talked to anyone with a Toyota pickup or a Chevy pickup with a 4.3L that had much good to say about the fuel mileage. The 4.3L I had was a pig on gas. Neither are much for power either. So, given that the OP stated he wants good gas mileage and good power my feeling is that neither engine should be considered.
When you state what you want and how you're going to there you should expect to be told that your "how" is wrong when it's wrong. Maybe you would rather be coddled and told it's a great idea so that when you impliment it you are totally disappointed??
