The VIR eliminator has three R12 ports on the top. I just hooked up a converter fitting to one of them.

Just an added note for anyone that is thinking of doing this mod.
For 73 to early 77 GM used a VIR valve. The eliminator replaces the valve with a orifice tube and an accumulator. The only difference between the 73-77 system and the 78 to 82 is the oil tube on the evaporator. If you need to replace your evaporator then you may want to use the 80-82 evaporator and accumulator. I say the 80-82 evap because that evaporator will have the 1/4" charge/switch ports on the evaporator instead of the accumulator. The ports that are on the accumulator are hard to get to and do not have the room for a switch or an adapter port for the R134.
