Default 1972 Radio

If one (ME) wanted to test a stock radio that I got with my car, how would I do that WITHOUT hooking it up in the car? I guess I am asking how to bench test it. What wires go where? Thanks!

Well, first off you would make sure that the convector is properly connected to the radio and that speakers [8-10 ohm impedence, low wattage] are connected to the two pairs of green/black wires (one set has light green, the other dark green...if I remember correctly). Then, you need to plug in an antenna to the pin connector on the right-rear (as you are facing the dial) and supply power and ground to the unit via the orange/yellow/black connector. Then you turn it on and tune it in!

I believe the connector colors are Grey/Black/Yellow - I don't believe that there should be an orange wire.

Grey = illumination
Yellow = power
Black = ground

I think you are correct. Yellow is the switched 12vdc power line, gray for the dial light, and black for ground. Thanks for the correction.
