Hi,
I have just replaced my 4 speed manual C3 1970 tacho cable, no worries getting it onto the dizzy, BUT I cannot for the life of me get the (slide on type) end to connect properly with the back of the Tacho. I can get it to work for a short time but then it just stops, works loose again i guess. What am I diong wrong.
Hi AR,
There's a spring clip mounted on the tach housing that must catch the lip on the tach cable connector.
Is that clip there and is it working? You should be able to just push the cable on and hear it click. But to remove the cable the tab on the bottom of the clip needs to be depressed if it's working properly.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
Thank you for that Alan, a picture tell a thosand stories, I now think I may not be aligning the cable properly allowing the clip to catch it. It appears to come through the fire wall on a bit of an angle. I'll give it another go on the weekend.
Thanks Mate.
Works best with a helper to get it off. One (with a skinny arm) to get underneath to depress the spring (pressed toward the dash and toward the rear of the car) and the other guy in the engine area pulling on the cable.
