Brake help
My 78 brakes just started acting wierd. When I apply the brakes the pedal goes within1/2 inch from floor but stops OK. If I pump it just once it comes back to normal. I have held it down both in the low position and the normal position after a pump and the brake is firm and the pedal never moves any farther down. No leaks, master full. The power booster seems ok. With engine off the pedal is up and rock hard. Any ideas out there? i am thinking MC. Am I on the right track?

That will probably solve the problem but probably isn't necessary. I suspect you have air in the system. Start by bleeding and see if you can get a firm pedal. If so, you probably need to rebuild your calipers (or buy rebuilt ones). That is likely where the air is getting in. Pretty common on these cars and often results from too much runout in the rotors.

I had similar problem and after getting new calipers from advance auto the problem was still there. Replaced the rubber hoses that connect to the calipers on each tire and it fixed the problem. Some one on here told me to do that and it worked.
