i have an 82' and recently replaced everything in rear suspension, all poly bushings, wheel bearings, brake calipers, mono spring, half shaft u-joints and still have the mysterious clunking noise. it presents itself either when turning at low speeds or while taking off from a stop or while shifting through the gears and also while shifting between P,R and D. any suggestions as to what the cause is will be greatly appreciated.
changed fluid plus a bottle of additive in differential. changed snubber cushion. have not changed drive shaft u-joints yet. going to try doing figure eights in local parking lot. can't wait to see the locals staring and wondering.
My first thought was the posi-clutches because of the noise turning but since you have added additive and it happens when shifting between directional gears I'm leaning towards u-joints. Let us know what you find.
