Default Headlight switch ****

Replaced the headlight switch today with a new **** in the 75. All works well except the **** will not stay in all the time. Worked the switch many times to test the vacuum side of the circuit then the **** comes out. Little concerned that the **** will come out after I have installed the dash. The ends of the new and old stems are quite different. Thanks Dave

**** rods lock in place in the switch. Sounds like yours is not locking when pushed in all the way. If the old one and new one look different, you may have ordered the wrong replacement.

I agree with Mike, the **** should be locking in place. Make sure the release button is not stuck in. Maybe twisting the **** while it is fully pressed in will get it to lock. Once the lock is properly engaged, the **** should not pull out unless the release button is pressed.

well I checked the parts and they are labeled correctly. I tried all the suggestions with no luck. Works a few times and out comes the ****. I measured the old stem at the tip and it measures .052 the new one measures .030. This may be my problem another quality repro part. Has anyone tried to remove the **** and swap over to another stem. Or I may weld the tip and try to reshape to the old dimensions. Thanks Dave

You should be able to transfer stems, I had one I was having trouble getting off, and was a little aggressive, the stem stayed in and the **** pulled off. The **** is glued one the stem.

OK I removed the **** from the new stem and tapped it on to the old stem with a little epoxy. All works fine now problem solved. Thanks for the help. Dave
