There should be a little thing-a-ma-jig under the dash, right below the steering wheel, called the override switch. When pulled down, it keeps the headlights from going down, even when the lights are turned off. There should be two of them, the other is for the wiper door, I think. That is the first thing I would check.

This means that one or both of the hoses have fallen off. Easy fix.

Reach up from underneath the front bumper. You will see the spring mechanism that operates the light assembly. Pull down gently and the door will close. You do not have to pull hard and the springs will do the work. If you are pulling hard, you are pulling in the wrong area. Just take a look and it will make sense.

Just reach in behind the light and pull down on the "knee", the pivot between the two arms. The two link arms go over center and lock in place.

No they won't, unless the headlight switch or vacumn override is on.

Ahh! Well, you didn't tell us that before! I guess we'll have to play "20 questions". Don't feel bad, it can be tough to tell what's important and what isn't, sometimes.

When did the headlights pop up and not go down? I don't mean, like, what was the date, I mean was there anything that you did, and then the headlights started acting up? Even if you think it is unrelated? Have you studied the link I posted? It does a pretty good job of explaining how the headlight actuation system works.

Any headlight staying up longer than 4 hours should be reported to your mechanic as soon as possible....
