Default TV Cable adjust 700r4 question

I'm still a carb newb so bear with me. I feel the TV cable needs to be adjusted because driving at low speeds around 25-30 mph the tranny seems to hestitate like its not sure if it wants to shift up or down. The tach isnt working at the moment so i can't see what the rpms are. I was thinking about getting the TV made EZ kit, but after looking at my carb and cable, this has me a little confused.

First off, why is the spring mounted in that location? Seems different from other pics and videos I've seen.

Second, would the TV made EZ system be what I am looking for?

Thanks.

Do I need that EZ kit or is it easy enough to do without it?

the ez kit works really well and comes with a cam that allows you to dial in different shift characteristics. i have used this on two carbs and i like it. to set it up right you will use a pressure gauge also.

I'd check the Bowtie Overdrive site, as sells the TV kit, and lists the bracket angles, if doing it youself. I've done a few 700R4 transplants, and always install Trans-Go shift kits. Not anywhere easy to do as a TH350 kit though. If doing it again, would probably go 4L60E though, as computer modules are cheap now, and much easier to tune.

Yes it is, thats why I thought it was odd. It "shouldn't" be connected there should it?

I'm still trying to figure out everything the previous owners did.
