79 Corvette Stalls when Idling

You have my e-mail (see previous post). Just drop me a note and I'll send you my phone number. I'll be around all weekend, and if this weekend doesn't work, we can set it up for another time. I can show you the whole setup procedure, and I'm sure we can find all the things out of whack on the car. We can then post up some photos and results to help others out who may be in the same boat. If the car is not drivable from the Springs to Lafayette, you'd be money ahead having it flatbedded up here rather than taking it to some schmuck who doesn't know how to set it up.

...and that's exactly the problem with these old Vettes: We assume, when trying to troubleshoot problems, that the car is correct and original so that "normal" troubleshooting techniques can be used. That, unfortunately, is not the case: These cars have been hacked, altered, modified and abused beyond imagination, so you cannot simply "rebuild" or "adjust" the existing components and assume things will work right. You have to identify all the incorrect parts, the modified parts, the missing parts, and the hack-work, and you have to correct all of it before ever being able to tune or adjust anything.
During my "Tuning for Beer" tuning seminars, I did "live" tuning and setup work on over 80 Corvettes. Not one of those 80 Vettes had identical problems: Each one was completely unique in its bizzarre setup problems and issues, and it was a regular "CSI" episode at every Seminar session I conducted. From my findings and experiences with this, and from the over 800 Q-Jets I have rebuilt in my mail-order services, I can say with reasonable confidence that it's not possible to troubleshoot and correct a Q-Jet problem via Forum posts or e-mail correspondance: The carb has to be visually examined, torn down, inspected, and evaluated in order to identify all the un-imaginable problems and issues that have been induced by previous "mechanics."
Aaron and I will shoot a few photos of the session tomorrow, and we'll post up the results on a separate thread here on the C3 Tech Forum for all to see and enjoy...
