Damn! 1/2 gal in 20 min of driving?
No leaks? are you pumping steam out the tailpipes?
Do a leakdown compression test. I would worry about hydrolocking a cylinder and trashing the engine if you are losing that much coolant.
Maybe some of our engine experts can chime in but souinds like you should not be running it to me.

Wow! I am surprised its even running correctly. thats alot in 20 minutes of driving. Its either leaking out, burning out thru the exhaust, or filling your oil pan.

I actually resolved this problem quite awhile ago, it was a very small pinhole on the upper radiator hose. I cut about 1" off the end and all is good. There were multiple problems though, it still overheated after that, it just didn't lose any coolant. The other problem was resolved when I pulled the old intake off to replace it with the RPM Intake. There was junk built up in the intake coolant passage ways. So much so, that it blocked the entire passageway. I have a 160 deg thermostat in it now, and that is what it runs at, all day long....

Nice to hear you got it fixed! Was it just coolant sludge that was built up?
