Hello Everyone, I'm just finishing a freshen-up on my Muncie M20, new hubs, sliders, synchros, brgs., etc., and have a few questions.... The parts kit I purchased includes a spacer which fits between the front bearing and fourth gear.
Questions are; Should I install this? It looks like it would tighten things up about .058" between the bearings. Seems like quite a bit.... And if so, does it stack on top of the existing oil slinger or does that need to be removed first?
Thank you, I appreciate your time and all the great info on CF.
I think I may have answered my own questions by looking a little more closely. The original oil slinger has a raised area in the center which the new spacer is designed to fit over making the added thickness .029", not the .058" I was worried about. The new spacer tightens up the input shaft nicely while leaving a comfortable amount of clearance at the main shaft. I think I'm good to go.
