Default 73 shoulder belts

I need to pull the seat out of my 73, which has the shoulder belt going thru the seat back. How do you remove the flexible plastic "T" shaped cover that prevents the belt from overextending? Does the cover pull off of the belt buckle or does the cover somehow push thru the slot in the seat back?I do not want to damage this cover as the car has a rare light saddle interior, and replacements only come in black.

If you haven't removed your seats yet all you need to do is remove the plastic filler panel in your seats then turn it sideways and it will push/pull through the seat and allow the seat belt to come with it so you don't have to remove the tongue cover.

There are replacements available in several colors should you decide or need to damage your existing cover and require a replacement since removing them will destroy them. Several of the site sponsors sell different colored covers (ecklers, corvette central, corvette america, etc.) I have the light saddle/tan covers in our production line so getting a replacement won't be a problem.

Good Luck,

Eric

I've done it both ways with success.

I'm not sure what you mean by the plastic filler panel. My belt feeds through a black/ chrome metal trim plate. The hot water trick did work aftert heating up 3-4 times, but I may need to do the other seat too, so I'd like to hear more about this filler.

I wondered about that response too. Also sounds like a vendor trying to slip under the radar.

Some types of car seats just have the belt sliding into the seat back...and maybe has a removable plate to close off that opening. The C3 seats that have the belts going through them are not configured that way.

Just boil a large mug of water in the microwave and dunk the cover/buckle/belt end in it for about 30 seconds. The cover will be plenty soft to wiggle off [or onto] the buckle. Then you can pull the buckle end through the seat.

PS You may need a glove so you don't burn your hand.
