I go to take the Vette to work on Monday morning and when I go to start her, it just cranks, doesn’t start. I put the car in reverse, let her start to roll down the driveway, pop the clutch and she starts right up. I’m off to work. It’s about a 30 mile drive that takes an hour with stoplights and light traffic.
This also happened about a month ago but I’ve driven her at least half a dozen times to work and around town since it first happened and haven’t had a problem.
Now, when I go to leave work about 9 hours later, same problem as in the morning. I get 2 guys to push the car and I pop the clutch and off I go.
I get home and let the car sit for 2 hours and test it. It starts right up. Tuesday morning, starts right up. Wed evening, starts right up.
I can’t recreate the problem to troubleshoot it.
I got the battery load tested and it’s OK.
What do I check now? Starter? The car cranks, it just doesn’t fire. Would that still be the starter? She does start if I roll her and pop the clutch.
check the starter solenoid connections or could be ignition switch, sounds like when cranking no power to distributor but when key in run position you get power.
