Default front add on bar

I have seen a couple vettes in here with a pic of a bar that ties the upper A arms together for front end stability. Whats it called and who sells them ?

Thanks.

I bought large Heim ends and threaded tubing at a race car shop. I fabricated the upper control brackets myself because I wanted the Heim end bolts to be vertical rather than horizontal. I don't have the OEM fan blade to work around anymore. Sturdier construction and less expensive than the ready-made spreader bars.

It is called a spreader bar.

I bought mine from Vette Brakes & Products. They offer two options. One is pre-welded for cars without a mechanical fan, like my '80.

1963-82 Pre-Welded Spreader Bar Kit

They also offer an unwelded version for cars with a mechanical fan.

I HIGHLY recommend this add-on. It makes a noticeable difference in the stiffness of the frontend in general.

Well I should have read deeper. this add on is for small blocks only unless your bigblock has an electric fan. Well I do have a big block in my 76 and I do have an electric fan. Anyone here have a pic of the spreader bar installed with a big block with electric fan ?

hope this helps. seems that with an electric fan, any of them will work. if you check the location of his weld on mounts, they are behind the c/a bolt. with out the mech fan, you could even use the weldon version.

Has anyone compared the quality of the commercially available bars?

Any differences worth noting?

I use speeddirects and this modification makes a big difference in the front end stiffness!! It is NOT for looks. All C3's should have a spreader bar.
