While I am having all this work done to my 78's motor, I thought I would put some headers on. Does the price usually include both sides or just one? The guy said something about getting some that Hug the head or something so they would fit. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.
Headers come in pairs and your guy was talking about "block huggers". These headers usually stay very close to the side of the block and aren't as long as other headers, i.e. the usually end somewhere near the top of the oil pan (or shorter).
Go to Holley.com and then Hooker. They'll have a picture of them somewhere.
Good luck,
They come in pairs and most come with collectors. Block headers are most often used by street rods. Good set is headman, hooker or for cheap price you can go dynomax coated. Good luck.
No matter what you get make sure you get the ceramic coated headers, they will last a lot longer. Check out the Jeg's website, they have a lot of brands and several that are specifically for '63-'82 corvettes.
I went to their website and it gave me a number of a guy in town. He has two types; a ceramic and a black. The black is $250 and the ceramic is $375. I think that you guys lean tword the ceramic. Any thoughts?
I installed hooker headers on my '79 and don 't have any complaint about them at all exept they rub on the ground when you go over speed bumps (ohh well that's life :)) I gained major HP with my full exhaust package and can't knock it. The headers I picked up were a little over 200 bucks. They were 1 5/8"
