Gas tank collapsed!!!
OK, so I know its a venting issue, but I'm at a loss...
Installed NEW tank in my 72, 4 yrs ago, and a new NON-Vented gas cap. Put around 4000 miles on the car, no problems. Sometime in the last 1000 or so miles (I think), the fuel tank has begun to collapse due to lack of venting... I looked underneath today, the tank is collapsed on all sides!! Pretty significantly...I really can't say how long it has been like this...Car, with ZZ4, stock mechanical pump, has been running great.
I will pull the tank next week, and have a new one on order. I will check all the vent lines, etc.
Should I go with a VENTED cap this time around? The car is a non-LT1, it calls for a sealed cap, and I had the correct tank and cap for the year. I still have the original canister, and all hoses are hooked up correctly, at least they have been for several years!
Suggestions?
