So I'm installing a 200-4R that I got from BTO. I got their entire setup (TV cable, shifter conversion, etc.), but ran into a problem when it came to the bracket for the steering column interlock cable. The original bracket for the TH400 doesn't have the bolts in the same spots and the transmission oil pan is a different shape, so it's not going to work.
I did some searching on forums and other people have had this same problem before, but I can never find what the fix was... The only answer I've seen is "made my own bracket".
I contacted BTO to see if they have any suggestions. They said "What you need to do is move the park/neutral safety switch from the steering column to the shifter." And that they have a "kit to mount an electric switch on the shifter that controls the park/neutral, back up light function without using the cable/rod that runs to the steering column."
Seems to me the neutral/safety switch is already located on the shifter (just replaced it), and the steering column lock cable is to lock the steering wheel in place when in park and keep the key in the ignition when driving. So, the kit doesn't sound like it's the right thing to me, but the tech at BTO is sure it's the fix...
Anyone have any experience with this? I mean is the kit from BTO really the right thing or is there a bracket I can get for it? Fabricating my own bracket is pretty much out... They want $95 for the kit and if I can get a bracket for cheaper, I'd rather go with that.
