new bolts ..engine compartment
i noticed that a lot of the bolts in the engine compartment such as the manifold,ect. were looking rusty and old..it isnt very appealing..i went down to city mill and found some stainless steel bolt the same size for about .40 cents apiece..what a difference they make..has anyone else done this to there engine bolts??seems like a nice inexpensive looking upgrade,what u all think??

That's exactly what I did through-out my restoration and engine mod process. After rusted solid exhaust manifold bolts caused me all kinds of trouble... I said "to hell with original" it's stainless for me. I bought the "Stainless Engine Bolt Kit" from Summit, and individual bolts as needed. It's a good idea and cheap insurance for ease of future work. Looks great too!!!
Man.... I never want to see rusted bolts again....

Absolutely...I used them for show, like in the engine area and for rust like underneath, but some places need grade 8s and I understand stainless is somewhat too brittle for some applications. Changed the hardware on the truck, too...mirrors, tie downs, headlights. I wish I had done this years ago when I was in Minnesnowta, rust capital of the universe.
