My '68 Vette just came back from the shop for "other" repairs. Now, out of nowhere, the tranny won't shift when I put the accelerator to the floor. It's fine at normal speed, but once I "Get On " her....It revs to the red line, and HOLDS!!!
Mechanic says everything is fine...(Of course) Never happened before. If I put the metal down, it always took off, shifts...1,2,3 no problem..Now? Only at slow speeds
I would suspect the vacuum modulator or the line to it first. Usually, when the vacuum is off it won't hardly shift at all anytime. But it's an easy place to start looking.
Does it have the same number of miles on the odometer as when you left it at the repair shop? If not, maybe the 'grunts' were out doing donuts in the back lot when the owner was out...
