Wal-Mart's good and cheap, too...no warranty hassles in my experience. I don't think there are as much differences between batteries like there used to be. But wherever you go, buy the best battery for your buck.
Wal-mart has some long-life batteries with the first three years free replacement or something like that. You know, if you overcharge a battery, it will kill it. If this happens for some unknown reason within the free period, you can get another battery free. :yesnod:
1978 I went to J.C. Penney's - when they had tires & auto parts - and bought a "Life-Time" battery that cost $55 or $65; it died in 1990 (not bad: 12 years). I figured I'd gotten my $$$'s worth, but a buddy suggested I contact Firestone. I did, and they said that they honor my warranty; all I had to do was get the battery to Firestone, along with my owner's card and original sales slip. No problem...I save ALL receipts for ALL expenditures for vehicles. I figured they'd give me the cheapest battery they stocked and tell me "hit the road"; not so...they gave me a "Firestone Supreme", told me when THAT died, to come and see them again. I did in 1996 and 2000. The only problem with the last time was there were 17 SUV's waiting for replacement tire exchange
That same year I got a Pa. "Classic Plate" (again $55 or $65; I don't remember which was which) and have paid a cent for registration fees since then ;) ;) ;)

interesting you ask this as i went out to go to work a couple days ago and the vette wouldnt start...
it had a 50 month old...50 month Interstate battery in it. they had that one figured out!
i hate to be the odd one here but i am a firm believer in AC DELCO batteries...
i went to the local United Discount Auto Parts store and bought a 6 year, 810 cold cranking battery for $69.....
how can you beat that?
NO core charge on AC Delco either! AND its "original equipment"...
an interesting note...we looked up what came in the car for cranking amps and low and behold...350 cold cranking amps! yikes! TOO SMALL! LOL
i figure 810 amps should do the trick
i dont know what you guys are paying at walmart but it cant be much less than that...
for me, even if its $20. more...id rather have the AC Delco in my car...
just my humble opinion...
weeeeeeelllll....*kicks self in head*
I thought my 550 amp NAPA battery was dead, so i felt like going overboard. I bought a 980 amp Optima Spiral Gel Cell battery....
I have to say its one nice battery, but $130 is kinda hurtin me in
the pocketbook.. :smash:
Was it worth it? The car turns over like a raped ape, that's for sure,
the stereo system has plenty of power and its a leak free maintanence
free battery...soooooo i'd say maybe :smash: :smash:
Thanks for the input. I decided to get the 39.95 walmart battery. I figure two years free replacement was the same you'd get from a delco or energizer, with the same cold crank amps, but 20 bucks cheaper.
While I was there, I found some of the same stuff I bought at best buy for my radio for 10-20 bucks cheaper per item too. $207 @ bestbuy, $125 for identical items at walmart.
