Default Under the hood Help !

hi guys ive had my 78 SA Vette for about 2.5 months now and have slowly been fixing parts that don't work. i am now moving under hood to address some issues there. i am a newbie in this area as i have not really worked on engines before, so excuse any stupid questions. thanks for any help in advance.

Am i missing a pipe or cap at the point shown in the image ?

In this image is that the original anti theft hood switch or an after market one ? and does the 78 SA come with an alarm ? secondly, where should the hood release cable be attached or what route should it take ?

firstly what is the grey cable for in the left hand bottom corner of the image for? this area seems to have had some bodge job done to it. what circuit is this wiring part of ? is that an after market horn for an alarm or original ? (it dosnt seem to be connected up so am most likely going to remove it unless it is original) and lastly what is the cut hose sticking out on the right hand side of the image ?

Noticed this fluorescent green liquid today any idea where it is leaking from ??

thanks again for any help

Looks like you are missing the air preheater hose going to the aircleaner

That is an aftermarket alarm.

The green liquid is antifreeze from the gasket on your thermostat housing.

You need the AIM and shop manual for your car.

You are missing an air preheater hose that goes to the air filter housing if it's a stock housing.

The pin switch is for a stock alarm but the horn is aftermarket.

The antifreeze may be coming from the thermostat housing gasket or the radiator hose connection may be leaking.

Hi ad,
You got your answers!
Good pictures to show legit questions.
I agree that the ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL and the GM CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL will be a big help to you, and really are worth their cost.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

"What's this wire for?" looks like your hood light wire.

the "cut hose" looks like it may run down to the bottom of the fender to the evaporative charcoal cannister. should be a tee in the pcv line that it probably goes to. looks as if the other 2 hoses(on top of steering box) that go to the cannister have been disconnected also.

Many vedors here sell the manuals
I suggest a wiring diagram for your car also
AIM is Assembly Instruction Manual
GM Service Manual is the shop manual.
Get the one that was produced for GM not a Haynes* or Motor Manual* *(brand names)
The red or pink wire in next to last picture looks to go the Alternator that might be the Batt wire

I bought my 78 shop, chassis, and AIM on Amazon this past Spring, all 3 for under $60. Well worth the $$
