I havent really gotten around to taking them apart but its nearing that time to get my 81 vette registered. The low beams do not work only the high beams where to begin on this.

The likely problem is the dimmer switch, it may also be poor connections at the bulbs or bad bulbs.

So I went and picked up new bulbs and when I went to plug the new one in it had 3 prongs and the old one had 2 and only 2 connectors so I bent the third prong figuring it was prob just a ground and plugged it in however I don't believe it went in far enough but they still do not work. Also I have a vacuum leak at my switch where would be the best place to purchase a new one

If your new bulb had 2 prongs, it's for the hi beam, the two center bulbs. The outer sealed beams have 3 prongs, low beam and hi beam. Willcox as well as others will have a new switch. It's a lot cheaper to get a multimeter or test light and find the real problem instead of replacing the wrong parts.
