Default Fiberglass epoxy recommendations?

I need to epoxy my fiberglass air chamber to the hood, and add fiberglass sidemounts to the inside of my new fiberglass front bumper.

I'm not sure which epoxy resin to get to do the attachment part of the process.

I believe the fiberglass on my hood and bumper are hand laid as opposed to formed simply because on the inside you can see the somewhat rough glass.

The brackets for my side lights are made of the same material and are to be simply "epoxied" into place.

I've done some research and there seems to be a never ending choice of this stuff.

Any recommendations?

You may do as you wish using resin and mat to afix your cold air chamber but I used Fusor #127EZ slow set formula, plastic structural installation adhesive. We use it all the time at the collision repair shop I work at.

I'm not sure how thick the edges are on you box,but with the west systems epoxy resin you can purchase an additive to thicken it up to your liking and use a an adheasive and or glass it in.west systems works great, I've used with fiberglassing my patch panels and also used the adheasive to bond the rear inner fenderwell, the new bonding strips and bonding the rear fender to strip and car. I have also used it in my drum building too.

thanks for all the input. I went ahead and ordered the West Systems. Seems like it should do the job. This air chamber I have for my L88 hood sure doesn't seem to fit very well, even though Ecklers was positive that this is the one I need.

If you didn't order the pumps, I highly recommend you do so. Those things are worth their weight in gold! One pump of resin and one pump of hardner is the perfect ratio. Use the 404 High Density Adhesive Filler with the resin and hardner. That's what this stuff is made for, sticking things together (on boats and yachts), and let me tell you, it does a fantastic job of it.

I buy the cheap mixing cups they have avaible at West Marine, they're easy to use and easy to clean, but you can get mixing cups about anywhere. To mix the resin and filler, I usually put the filler in the cup first, then add a pump of resin and a pump of hardner. If you need more material you just add more, and mix it to a consistency about like any body filler. Rough up both pieces that you want to stick together with some 80 grit paper, and use the filler as a glue. Try to limit the amount of excess you have because this stuff is very hard and you'll need a grinder to get it to shape if you have a lot of material you want to remove. I will tell you that as this stuff sets, if you watch it, you can trim it with a razor blade before it gets real hard, just check on it every 20 minutes or so until it's firm (maybe an hour or so into the curing process) and then trim it if you need to. I have a thread in the body and paint section that shows some of the work I've done with this stuff.

I would like to second that! The pumps are great and so easy to use! Only "issue" I've had with this stuff is that it yellows/browns as it ages if you leave the pumps on exposed to air. I've had it sitting out for about 4 years now and still mixes up well and reacts with the catalyst just a good as the first day I opened it.

I dont' know why more people don't use it around here.
