Default hot starts problem

i have an 81 350 on a cold start i pump gas 3 times and it fires right up after it gets up to temp about 200 degrees....i gotta hold the gas pedal to the floor utill it starts about 3 seconds... any one have this problem too????

when hot with the engine off have you looked down the primary side of the carburetor to see if you have gasoline dripping down the throats? If so I would check for a worn out needle and seat.

Could be a percolation problem causing some flooding. You running the exhaust cross-over through the intake?

This is normal for these older manual pumps and carbs cars. Fuel line comes up front of engine and if compartment is still stock it is packed full so little room for heat to leave once engine off and car is stopped. Just spin the engine a few times to get fresh fuel back up top carb and she should crank fine. Not like a cold start but just spin and let her fire off.
