My friend purchased one several years ago for his 400 cu in, 77 LeMans Wagon. We tried it at the drag strip back to back to back. Absolutely no difference in speed or ET. My friend still says that it improved his fuel economy but I think it was just to save face for the $75. :bs

i agree with fauxrs but let's take it a step further just to put this puppy to bed. as fauxrs said, carburators like straight flow. anybody looked at the dual plane intake that came on our vettes, or just about any other production v-8? even if this product could possibly live up to its claim, there is no way that the air velocity at the head port would look anything like it did on the bottom of the carb throttle blades. then there is the added, and unwanted, effect of centrifuge. let's not forget what they are advertising is that it spins the air. anybody know how those medical people separate blood from plasma? what about dairy people separating the cream from the milk? they spin it forcing the heavier fluid to the outside. between the air and fuel, it seems to me that IF this thing worked the way it was advertised you would coat the entire length of the runners with fuel and alot of it would never make it into the combustion chamber. don't need to spend my $75 to know this thing is :bs

Hey Stevo,
Yes, this newbe has tried the Tornado. Before you all call me stupid, let me explain. I drive a 89' Mustang 5.0 for work, approx 2500 miles a month. The car has 180K on it, and is stock except for a 10 over bore. I get a small reimbursement for mileage .11 cents, and I would pay heavy for anything that would give me better mileage and improve horsepower. After all isnt it about horspower per dollar spent. The fastest guy is the one willing to spend the $, and 80 dollars is a small price to pay for ANY increase in horsepower. Anyway, I was willing to try it hoping that I got either better mileage or better horsepower, which was their claim, one or the other would have been good, both would be great. With the money back offer, how could I go wrong? I purchased the unit on 4-23-01 and installed it about a week after. It was easily installed and well put together, a stainless steel unit. After over a month of checking mileage, I am undecided whether it has improved anything. If there has been an improvement in mileage it is minor, maybe about 5%, if there is a difference in horse, I believe that it would take a Dyno to see or feel it. My solution to confirming the mileage is to this is to remove it on 1/2 of a road trip and to reinstall on the return, of which I will do this week. The idea of the tornado makes some kind of sense to me, you know the vortex theory. But after installation, I wondered how that Vortex could stay constant with all the turns the air makes after the unit. The vortex thoery is a good one, remembering that the smaller fuel particals the better the combustion. Maybe the more violent the intake air is, the more the fuel particals are broken up. Of couse now I am past the date to return the item, so I will just play with and see if it works. The proper installation is to put it into the hose after the MAS senser, I may move it further down the intake hose directly into the top plenum, that would take the big bend the hose makes out of the picture. We will see, I will post the results of my trials if anyone is interested. If I was you, I would apply the money to a good K-N filter, I know they are a good investment. Bud is King... Patrick
