I can't seem to figure out how to get my non-power antenna on my 74 to stay secure/upright againt my body. I ordered what I thought were all of the necessary parts from Ecklers and am just not having any luck. Any suggestions/intructions for me?
Hi Rcd,
Do you have both the spacer and gasket that are between the nut and the fiberglass?
Also, is the ground plate in place under the fiberglass? It helps hold the antenna's body, (on the end of the cable), in place.
Regards,
Alan

Alan,
Please see the pics below...this set-up can't be correct? Notice the gap between my actual antenna mast and the exterior nut...
Hi rcsd,
Yes, there is supposed to be a flat plate about 6"x8" that the connector at the end of the antenna cable goes through before it pokes up through the rear deck. The plate also has a ground strap that runs to a screw in the frame rail.
I can't tell for sure what's missing or wrong in the picture of the antenna base above the fiberglass... I'll have to take a look at mine.
Regards,
Alan
