Default Universal joint question.

I just did the u joints from my 80. Driveshaft came out easy, rear bolts took 10 minutes to get out, u joints came right out and the new ones went right in. Nice easy job. I always remember it being a pain in the butt.

Did I do something wrong.

Maybe you have done it enough times, that now you are very good at it?

I did them on my 71 two weekends ago. It was fairly simple and easy as well, but I have other cars that were not. Helped make up for the strut rod removal.

Kind of on topic here since you are talking about the ujoints.... I replaced all mine on my 80 (Auto) recently with solid Spicer units. My concern is the durability of the 1/4" bolts and metal retaining "brackets". I suppose they were fine for the motors they were putting in these cars then but.... I see that one of the supporting vendors has Heavy Duty machined caps available for an 80 auto car but they want $150 / pair or $900 total for the 12 caps needed to do the car... Seriously? Should be about a 1/3 of that.
