Speedometer on my 73
The needle is only showing about 1/3 speed of the car. I suspect the plastic gear in the tranny. How hard is this to replace? I know they come in different colors but have never replaced one. Or could it be something else? Thanks!

I haven't done it but from what I can see in a transmission repair manual it seems relatively easy...by that I mean if they can photograph it on the car it can't be too bad.
It is possible that it is something behind the dash in the speedometer. Check at the transmission first since it looks easier to access. If that isn't it then it is possible that the cable is broken somewhere. If not then take the dash apart and look in the speedometer.
