Default Radiator Question

I have a question and I am looking for some help and feedback. I started my 73 Vette (350) up today and after running her for about 20 minutes or so, it started to leak a little radiator fluid. I couldn't see anything when I looked underneath the car (currently up on blocks) and it was hard to see the radiator under the hood. What I saw from looking through the fan, it appears that fluid was leaking from the drivers side of the radiator close to the top. I am assuming it leaked after the 20 minutes because it was then warmed up and the radiator fluid was reaching the top of the radiator.

So, I wanted to ask if you thought my radiator was blown, or if there was something I could do to fix it. If a new radiator is needed, should I have the stock one refurbished, or should I replace with an aftermarket one. And if I am replacing, what should I look for and brands to avoid.

Thanks in advance!!

If something is wrong with the rad don't overlook it. Not dealing with the rad properly can cost you an engine.

There are plenty of options for rads. You can get replacement rads or drop in aluminum replacements.

I haven't had an aluminum one but I was checking out Dewitt's when I was at Carlisle. Another vendor was saying that theirs really are drop in types that don't require modifications.

Other will probably chime in with more experience with different companies. Personally I would simply replace with a standard replacement.

Any automotive radiator shop can leak test your radiator. The fix might be simple and cheap compared to an aftermarket replacement radiator.

Thanks, appreciate the input. I have to find a few hours and I will try and pull it out and get it tested. Then assess options if it can be recored or go aftermarket. Thanks again!

They can do a simple pressure test with the radiator in the car. I'd try that and see how bad it is before I'd pull it.

Pulling the radiator out of these cars is usually unpleasant at best!
