I am getting to the point with my 81 frame where it's time to start thinking about how much paint I will need. I bought a quart of rust encapsulator years ago, so I am planning on spraying that as the primer. I am hoping the one quart will give me two coats.
I am going to use Extreme Chassis Black for the final coat, but I am trying to figure out what would be more economical, going with the quart size or spray cans.
Would one quart do 2 coats? How many spray cans would be needed for two coats?
I used Por-15 and one quart gave me two coats with enough left to do the radiator support, front crash bar, and frame extensions. I brushed it on thought. You might lose some as overspray, but it should still cover you.

Not even close. If you're spraying, you're going to need over a gallon of sprayable product. I went through about a gallon-and-a-half for 2 coats on my frame, and I was down to fumes on the last coat. The problem with shooting a structure such as a frame is that at least 1/2 of your product is spraying "air" at any given time. A quart will spray 1 coat on about 1/2 your frame...
I painted my 80 C3 frame, sprayed 2 coats of POR 15 and 2 coats of POR 15 chassis black, using a normal everyday old style spray gun (not a hvlp) and I used one quart of each product. Hope this helps.
