I remember someone awhile back writing about trying some L.E.D. bulbs to replace their 1157 bulbs. If anybody has tried these, I would like to know; What did you think? Are they brighter over all, or spotty? Would you buy them again? I'm trying to decide if I should go with L.E.D. or just go with a 2057(brighter) bulb. Comments???
It may have been me. Don't buy them, unless you want mine at a deep discount! Did not think they were worth it. But, if interested, let me know. Used about one month - let's see, 100,000 hours, yup, lot of life left.
You never know, maybe I can rig up something to have red lights shining under my car? BTW, I also have amber ones which likewise suck. But, you know what they say in the Netherlands - Nothings sucks like an Electrolux!
While you are at it, might I recommend the 50w halogen backup lights? They turn your backup lights into very bright, functional lights. I run them on my Corvette and Wrangler. Even though they exceed the stock lights by a nice margin, they have not damaged my wiring in either application. I believe it is because you only use your backup lights for a short period of time. I have had trouble with wiring on my Jeep from running bright head & fogs, and I burnt up my dimmer switch (hi/lo) on my 'vette with 90w H4s. I now run relays for the front lights. Anyways, you can get the halogen backups (1156?) from Murrays or Pep Boys. They rock!
