Engine Ticking Noise Solved
I have received priceless help to solve issues on this forum so now l'm proud to give back. I have a ticking noise coming from the engine. First thought it was the valves or lifters, but after removing the valve covers that was not the problem. I was told that the problem was a loose bearing, low zinc in the oil right up to engine rebuild time. I removed the timing chain cover and noticed that the chain was so loose that it was hitting the side of the bottom of the timing chain cover. After 2 days of labor replacing the timing chain the motor is as quiet as a lamb and the oil pressure increased. Just wanted to let all know that if you hear a ticking noise from your engine and your timing chain is old, the chain could be the problem and not engine rebuild time or the over the counter junk fixes.
