Dead C3 79 Vette....
I have a 79 Vette, which I bough about two months back and the car had been running mostly fine until 3 nights ago. The car had been downstairs for about 3 days and I wanted to take it for a quick spin around the block. I noticed a SLIGHT hiccup in the engine startup followed by the intermittent fading in and out of the GEN light for the duration of the 30 minute or so trip.
I got the car back to my garage and parked it. My wonderful fiance recommended to back it up a bit in the spot so no kooky neighbor would take my nose off... FINE no problem, let me do just that....
The car was completely dead, no gen light, no roll over/click NOTHING. Totally 100% dead. It was late so I slept on it and attempted to jump it the next day. Absolutely NOTHING again. Here's what I've done SO far...
- Checked connections at battery terminal (GOOD)
- Checked to make sure wires were snug at starter (GOOD)
I'll be getting a wiggins tester tomorrow to check the voltage of the battery/starter. Based on these initial symptoms, what do you guys think? It's a brand new battery, so based on my rookie knowledge, I'm thinking the starter's involved and or wiring between that and the battery. Thanks so much if you can help
