What Color?
I own a 1969 Corvette L-71 that is in the midst of a full restoration.
I am wondering what the correct color should be with regards to:
1. Muncie M-21 4-speed transmission (natural aluminum color, Chevy Orange, or ??)
2. The metal lid on the brake master cylinder (natural metal color, black, grey, or ??)
3. The two rectangular rear deck vent grilles located behind the rear window (body color, chrome, or ??). http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette...d=body%20parts
4. The area where the windshield wiper arms and operating gizmos reside (body color, black, or ??).

Hi CK,
I believe that:
The transmssion cases were all left natural.
The master cylinder cap was cadmium plated with a gold colored dichromate wash.
The vents on the rear deck were painted body color with the plenums below them being semi-flat black.
The wiper-well area was also semi-flat black.
It sounds like you're working pretty hard on your 69... how about a few pictures? It's always fun to see what people are doing.

When I redid my Super T10 earlier this year I scrubbed and scrubbed the tranny to get it clean. It was dingy and black before that. Despite my best efforts I could not get it clean enough for my liking. I painted it bright silver just to make it pop. Your call. the accesss plate for the linkages I painted a hammer finish silver which is closer to the original steel plate color. I painted the bellhousing the same color and I like it. They really stand out against the floorpans and tranny tunnel.
