I don't have a real solution for you, but on cars that have this issue my Dad always taught me to use the override vacuum switch under the steering column to open and close the door so as to avoid crashing the door and wipers.
Hi,
There is a vacuum operated switch located in the wiper well on the right side.
The base of the wiper arm depresses a plunger on the black plastic switch which sends a vacuum signal to the vacuum relay that operates the wiper door.
Make sure this switch is adjusted properly (it can move on it's mounting bracket) so that the arm doesn't contact it too soon and allow the door to close before the arm is COMPLETLY down in the park position.
Regards,
Alan
