The Permatex (Ultra Black) instructions says it fully cures in 24 hour. Do I have wait that long before starting the car

Do you have to wait that long?, no. I do however like to give it a few hours (3-4) to harden up before firing the engine. I feel the longer you can wait probably the better though. I also find it a good idea to check on the bolt torque after the intake has been bolted on for a few hours, you'll be surprised how the intake gasket will flatten and loosen the torque on the bolts after it sits a while. Also check it after it's first good heat cycle (road test) especially with an aluminum intake.

Pat's response is right on. Wait as long as you can. I like to do the job, torque it up, run it and the next day re-torque, boy is it off. Good luck.

73 LS-4 and bigvette1 thanks for the input I'll take both of your advise and wait. I won't be able to work on it again till Wed. but it's doesn't matter it's just a hobby.

When I retorque them your saying to loosen the bolts first and then retorque them? Also when I torqued them down the sequence I used (in pounds) was 10, 15, 20, 25 Is this a good method?

No, don't loosen them. You will be back to square one. You want to apply the same torque that you orignially applied in the same tightening sequence. I don't know what the torque requirements are, but I'm sure someone else has that info. handy.

Yea, don't loosen them. Just make sure all the bolts are torqued to the proper end spec. For example lets say the final torque spec is 36ft/lbs, you go through the 4 or 5 steps to get it to this point after putting on the new intake and gasket, let it sit overnight and check it again, you'll probably find that some of the bolts are now at slightly less then 36ft/lbs, torque them back down to 36ft/lbs while checking all the others in the proper torque sequence. Then you'll do this again after you finally take the car out and drive it for a bit and the intake has had a good heat cycle, cold/hot/cold.
