Default engine swap

What do you all think, my 74's engine doesn't have the power I want, so instead of messing with a numbers matching engine I want to build another 350 or put a 454 in it. I'm not making a 10 sec car, just something to live up to the corvette image. I ave a chance to purchase a 1970s 454, and I have a 350 that needs a rebuild. Besides headers what else would be needed to put a 454 in the vette.
Thanks

Have the 350 built up into a 383 stroker.....

Cheaper in the long run....and better IMHO

these came with big blocks so not a big deal, just finding parts . i agree a small block is easier, but a fat rat is cool

For a good BBC at an outstanding price, look at Vortecpro performance.

price rebuilding a BBC locally and buying one from mentioned above.you can get the correct pulleys in alum. .hood clearance mite be a problem with a BBC with a stock hood.what head casting numbers are on the BBC you are looking at ? how much for the 454 ?a 750 DP ,a rpm air gap ,and a mild hydraulic cam will make great power ,mite need to have the rear diff checked .

I've owned both, BBC and SBC (current and prior) C3s - BBC is neat; but you can build a SBC to 454 cubic inches and maintain the beneficial weight balance of the Corvette. IMO a 454 SBC is pushing the envelope a lot; but a 427 or 434 is a reasonable build that can run like a scalded cat. Best of all, it still looks like a SBC
