Default Need HELP with removing rag joint!!!!

How in the world do you get this stud off? there is no way I can see it come off, I tried to outline it in red, it's a thin line but there... Please help, if I don't get this done i can't put the motor in tomorrow.

Thanks!

Here's the end.

You may have to either loosen the gear box or the steering column to gain enough room to remove the rag joint. The last time I did one, I removed two of the three gear box mounting bolts to make room.

thats a pretty good mess, you may , after you cut that, drop your steering column and move it back far enough to remove that. but it looks like you could get the rag side of that out of the way and it will tap off. I'd probably do the steering column though, less chance of an 'ooopppss'.
pb blaster would be good
btw , thats not 'in' the steering box, its just slid on the shaft like the steering side
since you have the motor out, tap the steering end down after you cut that, piece it out if you need to, tap the steering box side up, piece it also if needed, install the new one, donr, a dremel or grinder works also.

Not sure what you're referring to when you say tap off. Are you talkin the stud or coupler.

the piece thats on your steering column is a slip on , tap it down towards the steering box. the piece thats on the steering box shaft is also a slip on. when the upper piece is out of the way, tap it up towards the firewall, gently
cut that stud, its rusted together, you wont need any of that.
the piece thats on your steering box shaft has a split where the pinch bolt was, drive a good sized screwdriver in the split and that will loosen the lower half making it easier to slide upwards.

Cut the stud, both of them, if you had the new rag joint this would make more sense

put a line mark on both shafts , steering column and steering box, and try not to rotate either one, when you put the new rag joint on, make sure the two marks are lined up with each other, that way you wont have to play with trying to get your steering wheel back right.

does your new rag join have those studs, and two bolts to hold it together,? you dont need the old pieces. you wont need anything you remove from that.

Yes it does have new bolts, my problem is if i cut the stud (in first pic), will I be able to get the pieces out of the part on the steering box to put it back together with the pieces that came with the kit. the instructions don't say anything about how to do that or if i have to. Are they just pressed in? how does it come out???

I know you are helping and are being very patient, I do appreciate you help!
