Default Engine upgrade help

Hi guys,
One of my first posts, Been searching the forum for awhile now. I'm looking to upgrade my engine to get alittle more power out of it. However, I don't know much about the history of the engine, here is what I know.
its a 76 L-48 4spd
Engine was rebuilt in the late 80s 90s, was told it was blueprinted and bored out 40 over? or to a 400ci? Still trying to learn and understand the terminology. It was done by a drag racer in upstate NY. his last name was chipper. Have been told by some mechanics in the area that the cam is real strong and the car has good torque.
all the Smog things are off and it has the orginal heads on. the Q-jet was rebuilt about 4 years ago.
Things I have done:
New edelbrock performer intake
New edelbrock water pump
hooker super comp headers with Magnaflow true dual exhaust.

I was thinking about putting a new Holley carb on and fuel pump, but not sure what kind.
Also don't know if new heads would be better and what to get.
I would love to put a new BB in it but don't think that would fly by the wife right now. Its mostly just a strett cruiser witht he occansional trip to the track.

Thanks for the help I really apprciate it

Unless you didnt list it the cheapest thing you have missed is a distributor recurve. The Holley wont give you an advantage over a proper running Quad.

New 64cc heads would be your best move imo. keep qjet.
Numerous better heads out there,
AFR has some of the best imo.

^^^^^ with all

Put those old heads to the side and get the latest tech.
Waste of money sinking $ into them and they still wont stack up with the latest out there now.
