Hi tb,
I only have my 71 to look at.
The red wire situation is as you describe 1 #10 red wire coming out of the engine harness, and 1 #10 red wire coming all the way from the fire wall.
They both fasten to the same lug below the relay. Looking from the engine toward the relay mounted on the apron, it's the lug towards the front.
I DON'T know if this is correct for a 69 car. At least this will get your post to the top again for some new views.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Hi tb,
I looked at 2 69 cars this a.m. and both had the 2 red wires on the other lug than the pic of my 71 shows. I'm not sure now which post your friends 69 should have them on.

In this picture you can see the 2 wires.
The connection is obscured by the white striped hose in the vacuum hose and harness bundle.

Cite the UPC # and Sheet # from the AIM. Numerical page 263 in my 69 AIM is for headlights.

...how many red wires should be connected to the relay and were?...
This could vary. Options use the horn relay for power. Factory AC and power windows use it. The connections are shown in the options section of the AIM.
