egr.........
If the heads had no exhaust cross over ports..........But the manifold still has the EGR.............would the EGR still pass the smog test in california if no one knew?...............

Cool.............is there any smog guys out there that would squeeze one as a test?.........or what would they do for testing. Wondering if I'm going to have to drill a hole in the ex port to make this head pass..........

Good news................compressing the diaphragm still causes a vacuum leak, so it stumbles the engine as in testing. So.........maybe only if the tail pipe test showed too many nox numbers, they would look at the EGR......................

The EGR lowers NOX. Yours has to be functional, with or without yer heads, or you'll fail the tail pipe test.
You may want to pay for a "sample" test, before your data gets sent to Sacramento DMV
