You might consider used ones to. There are rust free ones out there....

Van Steel does the rebuilds as well. I had mine done by them years ago. No problems.

That price is usually for NEW complete assemblies.

Both. One side is as old as the other. You do not want to do this job twice.

Look at Bairs Corvette.
http://www.bairs.com/suspension.asp

$349.00 per each trail arm completely rebuilt. They do great work and are good folks to do business with

That price assumes that all 'hard' metal parts in your core T/A are re-usable. You will need to add the cost of a new T/A piece, to replace the rusted/welded one, and any other parts that need it (other than the usual 'wear' parts that come included in the rebuild).

I've heard from three different sources that you'll be hard pressed to get a core passed some of the vendors.

I'm currently attempting to restore the '64 and am converting it to disc brakes (pricey conversion). I purchased these bearing assemblies from the Corvette Guys on ebay for $250 per side with NO core charge:

The components all look good and they arrived in a timely manner. I suppose in ten years when I get the car completed we'll see how they perform.

At any rate, If I were needing to replace a trailing arm and I had no core (which I didn't) I'd buy a used arm from ebay ($100+/-), some pivot bushings and a bearing assemblies from the Corvette Guys and install it all myself and save the core charge.

You have to be careful about the components being used. We use Timken bearings, stainless hardware, steel shoes, my backing plates are made in the USA and have the part number stamped in them so you can go through judging, but more importantly the gauge of the metal is thicker than the import and my spindle is made in the USA. Unfortunatly I had to buy a couple of spindles that are import because my Domestic one will not be in stock for a month, but the imports I have coming in have been tested by a outside lab to make sure they meet DOT specs. I have had allot of import spindles sent to me that we refuse to use so you have to be careful about what you get. As far as your core, if the arm is bad than there will be a deduction for it, but as long as the bearing and spindle etc is ok you will get money back. I can also take and build your assembly.
We get $389 with a $300 core charge. Just because the t-arm is welded does not mean you are out the $300 the t-arm is only $75 of the core.
Thanks
Justin

I had one T-arm that was rusted through.... it was a $75.00 deduction..
here's the specs on the Vtech rebuilt T-arms..

"new Timken bearings / races / seals, new stainless parking brake kit, new emergency brake shoes, new dust shield (silver for years 65-75 and gold for years 76-82), new spring cup, new cable guide, and new wheel studs. All existing parts are cleaned and painted. The units are re-assembled with Mobil 1 synthetic grease. The bearings are blue printed to exact specifications to .001 plus / minus .001 end play."

hell of a deal for $295.00 each!
not too many vendors are rebuilding them to +/- .001 end play...

Gary (Vtech) did mine too. Extremely pleased with the quality and price. Had them done in less than a week.
