Is the car overheating or leaking coolant, or is this a preventive repair?
Or does he just feel the car needs a radiator and heater core? just sayin... If it were overheating a timing adjustment can help that too.
I agree, take your other friend with you to keep everybody honest.

I have used the same mechanic shop for 20 years. They are NOT a rip-off. The radiator needs replacing due to being clogged up pretty bad. Don't want to rod it out when I can replace it for not too much more. Heater core has a hole in it and needs replacing.
