Hi i have a 78 with a vibration at around 70mph rattles the dash. If i let up on the throttle just a little the vibration goes away. im going to have the tires checked for balance then re balance. if it is a drive line issue is there any way to tell if its the drivshaft or half shaft ?? Any help would be excellant thanks.
I had this same issue on my car. I needed new tires anyhow due to wear. So I ruled them out. In short, I didnt find the issue till swapped the torque converter. I noticed that one of the Ujoint straps on the drive shaft had come off. I went ahead and took that opportunity to replace all the ujoints.
All I am sayin is a visual check under there would have helped my issue with the missing strap. I never would have guessed that to be a possibility.
i have the same problem on my 76, i havent had the tires balanced yet but i did notice that mt drivers side rear wheel is leaning in on the top and the passenger side is straight which is right and will this cause a vibration?

ether the rear end bushing is bad gone or loose, or you need a drive train alignment.
Have not been under car for awhile trailing arms have been serviced tie rod arms have been replaced. last year replaced front end ball joints, control arm bushing, frt rotors and any other rubber parts. if it is this rear end bushing where about is it ? how do i know its bad ? can i do the job myself ? thanks for your help

Camber on the rear wheels should be slightly negative; they should lean in at the top. On a level piece of pavement, about 1/8" to 3/16" in from plumb vertical is about right, when measured at the wheel rims.
If you take your measurements exactly 14 5/16" apart, 1/4 inch equals one degree.
