have a 76 , and can't get the hood latch to work. pulled and pulled from the inside and get nothing. must have some safety to fall back on?? can i get at somthing from underneath the car?? graduate of school of hard knocks
Have you tried having someone pull the handle and you push down on the hood a little on each latch? I had to do this for a while until I adjusted it. Once you get it open try a little white grease on all the moving parts.
One other option is a coat hanger with a bent hook on the end. Fish is under the hood from the wipers, hook the cable on each side and pull. Sounds like the cable from the handle in the car to the release latch is broken or came loose. Not uncommon on C3's.
I had the same problem with my 77, on each side down below the winshield wipers there should be like a rubber gromet on each side, pop that out and that gives you access to the release on each side, all it is a small hole you can fit a screwdriver throught there and pop it. It happened when i was still living in hawaii I was pissed cause id just spent like an azz load of money on it, and it seemed everytime I got one project done it was something else so I took it all the way downtown Waikiki to chucks corvette clinic told him what the problem was, he came ou to the car took him like 5 seconds and it was open. Ended up being one of the cotter pins had come off the cable, put another one on and it was good... hope this helps :smash:
