hey just signed up does anyone know what size pully goes on crankshaft for a 69' 427 390 HP with air and also the belts used or routing? Thanks Charlie
Hi Fly,
The info I have indicates the bb harmonic balancer pulley was 6 3/4" in diameter. Early 69 cars had a cast iron pulley while later cars had a stamped steel pulley. Another pulley was added if the car had p/s. I don't know what if anything was added for an a/c car. Perhaps a different pulley was used at the water pump to drive the a/c compressor?
I'm sorry I can't help with the belt routing for a 69.
Here's the sheet for 71 bb configurations, maybe it will help? Look at the LS5 and LS6 belt routing.
Regards,
Alan
I have a 390 horse air car. Does your car have power steering? Smog pump?
I had a hell of a time locating the correct size belts. Most of the vendors have an error in their catalogs.

My car does have power steering but no smog pump which seems to be driven off of the third grove of water pump pulley and the A/C pulley,so I just use a smaller belt to bypass the smog pump. The real problem is that the front groove of the power steering pump does not line up with the Alternator pulley. It seems that I have the wrong Alt. pulley or the wrong p/s pully. also does the idler pully push in on the crank pully and water pump pulley belt or does the belt go around the idler pulley. If any one had some good pictures of set up and part #s of pulleys that would be helpfull. Thank everyone for your help. Charlie
