Given that they make conversion mono springs for these C3's,
and given that you can cut a fiberglass spring and relocate the holes
any one running C4 springs? You can get stock ones in different spring rates
Did a search and nothing came up.
you can buy them for less than $100
many thanks
mainly cause the C4's are so cheap and plentiful and come in a multitude of spring rates, just for my 87 there's 6 that I've found, and if you get into the later C4' it adds a few more. havent decided to do it...yet . just curious, with all the different rates , you could change from a street cruiser soft to an autox'r stiff in bout 1/2 hour. could go to adjustable coil over's but thats $1200 vs $80.
Just measure one up and see if it will fit properly. If so, just select one with the correct spring rate and have at it. Then, you can tell the rest of us if it works well....or not.

If you have to cut it that will change the spring rate (stiffer) and you won't know what you have.

I've run a couple different C4 rear springs on my '69. While I'm running a C4 suspension I still retained the C3 differential (with a late C3 batwing). A couple things to consider. The spring mount configuration is different between C3 and C4 applications, as I'm sure you're aware. Also, the mounting height is different. I made an adapter plate to bolt up the C4 spring (other options are surely doable), and had to use longer outer bolts to get the ride height where I wanted it.
The C4 springs are dirt cheap at swap meets. I have three different rate springs on hand, and have the medium rate (base '84) on the car at the moment. I also have the '84 Z51 spring on the shelf, but haven't felt it necessary to change from the base spring. (The other spring is a base suspension soft rate item, nice for driving around but too soft for track days.)
I took about an inch and a half off each end for my application. A stock C3 suspension application will probably be different.
Keep us updated if you do the switch.
