Should the shock mounts on boths sides fit flush against the Trailing Arm Spindle Support bracket. I've got my new ones and they have those ridges that prevent it from pulling up flush.
You should not draw in the splines and torque the nuts down on the mounts until the weight of the car is on them and the rear suspension has settled on the proper ride height. Otherwise the shafts will not be perpendicular to the centerline of the shock absorber...causing the rubber bushing to fail prematurely.

Good catch, forgot to mention that. Same with most of the rest of the rear suspension. Check the manual(s) for specifics
