Hello all, well 2nd transmissions mount a break. I don't know what the issue is. The first one the transmission was sagging started leaking everywhere then the mount ripped. It ripped where the mount faces the transmission oil pan. Well #2 mounted all leaks stopped, but i noticed the mounting bracket that moves up and down. Then it ripped same location has the old one, was bolted on and not even driven just sitting parked. My question is does the mounting bracket supposed to move or is it bolted down to the cross member. i noticed that the cross member has holes so does the bracket, but they don't line up. I have 350, 3 speed transmission

You have no info in your bio page. We don't know what year/engine car you have. We don't know what tranny you had installed originally nor what you last installed. How are we supposed to advise you?
Order the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for your model year. The AIM shows the installation of the automatic transmission, the crossmember mount, and lists the original part numbers for what you need.
If memory serves, the tranny mount bolts to the tranny first; then the X-member.

This is a wild guess, but could he have a broken motor mount that is messing up the transmission mount? It sounds like something is really moving around on his car to trash transmision mounts.
I'm inclined to agree. There is a significant mis-alignment issue or a motor mount problem. Also check the condition of the differential mounting hardware.
Well for anybody else who runs into this, i noticed on the zip cat. they showed two bolts that mounted the bracket to the cross member, well i went bought to bolts, and now fixed, the bolts were missing so the bracket sagged and caused the trans to drop and rip the mount, and transmission oil would leak from everywhere, fixed that and all leaks stopped

does he have a 3 speed manual or 3 speed (th350) automatic? it sounds as though it's a th350. does the 1977 use the manual transmission bracket pictured above? the trans mount bolts directly to the crossmember when the trans is a th400, and the above bracket is not used.
